Portugal food and storytelling photography workshop | June 4-8, 2015
Another workshop announcement!
I am teaching a 3-day food and storytelling photography workshop in Melides, Portugal June 4-8. We will be staying at Uva do Monte, an old working farm converted into a beautiful estate. A blueberry farm, beautiful deserted beach, renovated old-charm rooms, Portuguese cuisine… the perfect setting for time learning about how I approach editorial food and lifestyle photo shoots.
In this workshop you will learn how I work on a photo shoot from start to finish: establishing an art direction, story and mood boards, styling, prop sourcing, lighting, equipment, composition, camera basics and exposure, post-processing and editing content to create a story.
I am so happy to have the chance to return to Portugal where I worked for a summer about ten years ago… in my pastry chef days. I absolutely loved it. It was June also and I worked in a posh hotel outside of Sintra. There was such sense of tranquility in the air, the Atlantic waters had not fully warmed up yet and I loved the chill on my feet when I visited the empty beaches. I remember the stews, rustic food and fresh fish. The colorful buildings and all the mosaic tiles. The narrow streets in Lisbon and warm people. I cannot wait to be back.
Uva do Monte looks perfectly charming, don’t you think? And if we are lucky, there will be wild strawberries growing at that time around the property.
