Rushing Through a Chocolate Truffle Cake
Yesterday was Jill’s birthday and I had the best intentions in the world to make a beautiful cake for her, but I have been juggling too many things at once and it just didn’t come out as I had envisioned it. A bit sloppy, but full of good wishes.
I wish I could share more photos. Soon. Happy Birthday Jill!
happy Birthday to Jill! The labels make it sound like it was spectacular!
I have no doubt the cake was amazing and delicious. Happy Birthday to Jill.
But your photos are still gorgeous!
WISHING JILL A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I’m very happy just for this shot…so happy birthday Jill!
Maybe it didn’t come out as the best cake around but those spoons look so appetizing that I had to remember I’m on diet.
Happy Bday Jill!
I’m sure it was still tasty! I have found that it’s often the sloppiest cakes that taste the best… but it probably has to do with all the love the baker put into them :)
Mmmm but with a spoon as chocolaty and delicious looking as that I’m sure it tasted great!!
I had a similar incident with chocolate cake on monday…there were tears, but I still posted a picture at http://thisisgingerrose.blogspot.com.
Oh I would just take the batter right off the spoon and place a birthday candle right in the middle of it! It is the wishes for a great birthday and big sparkly smiles that matter for a birthday. Hope it was great for Jill.
Also, where did you learn photography? It always takes my breath away. Any pointers/books/websites I would be so grateful if you could offer any.
I’m sure it was perfect… That picture is full of promises!
cheers,
Rosa
what a beautiful shot!!
happy birthday!!!

Wishing Jill a wonderful birthday filled with love and happiness!
Happy birthday Jill!
Las cucharitas rechupeteadas nos dien que estaba bien rico. Son las 7 menos cuarto y yo también he chupado la cuchara de la izquierda en la pantalla. Delicioso. Y la foto muy significativa.
Happy Birthday Jill!
Can’t wait to read more from you.
blaaaa. i know what you mean about rushing. everything seems to always explode at the same time. i hate slacking in blog posts. but hey at least you got cute spoons!!
Seguro que Jill sabe apreciar el detalle… además, viniendo de tí seguro que no quedó tan mal… :)
the photo makes me wonder how the cake must have been. well one thing is for sure, delicious :)
making a cake for a friend´s birthday is so sweet that it doesn´t matter the final aspect. that would make me very happy
Kristin- I am self taught when it comes to photography. I read my manual well, experimented with different settings, light… Thank you!
Thanks everyone!
I don’t know, but I’d say the one pic you did show looked good enough to eat. i’m sure it was wonderful!
Please.Mail.Me.That.Spoon.Now! :)
She is lucky to have a great friend who’d bake a cake for her! :) I wish I had a super baker friend~ :P That looks great.

Birthdays and Chocolate. A Timeless combination.
How bad could chocolate truffle cake be?….I’d love the recipe.
Happy Birthday to Jill. I’m still sure the cake’s gotta be stunning. Anything you do is. Hope she has a wonderful day!!
licking the spoon is always the best bday part!
Oops..Happy Belated Birthday to Jill!
I am sure the cake tasted delicious!
That looks like the perfect anecdote to all the meat cooking I’ve been doing at school (I’m a culinary school student).
And, of course, the cook gets to lick the spoon!
happy (late) birthday to jill! sorry it did not come out the way you had planned, but lovely all the same…i am sure of that.
Hey, it’s chocolate! Who really cares how sloppy it looks? Throw on some fresh whipped cream and berries and everyone is happy.
Hasta las reinas tienen un mal día, jaja.
Happy Birthdy Jill!!! ( para una cosa qué se decir en inglés no podía faltar a la cita, no?)
Muchísimos besitos sin gluten
Thank you, the Rhubarb and vanilla tart recipe was awesome and a became a great jumping off point for a whole menu. I’ve trained as a chef and as an artist and last week opened a temporary fine-dining restaurant in an art gallery in Devon, England. The tart featured on the menu minus the crumble topping, too much after 6 prior courses i felt, and was loved by all.
P.S. Love the blog, the pictures are always graceful, beautiful.
May I have a lick?
